θ Bootis ( Theta Bootis , pronunciation: "Bo-otes") is a main sequence star in the Bear Guardian constellation . He bears the proper name Asellus Primus (Latin for first donkey ). Theta Bootis has an apparent magnitude of 4.1 mag and belongs to the spectral class F7. Its distance is about 47 light years .

Theta Bootis is located - with the close neighboring stars ι and κ Bootis ( Asellus Secundus and Tertius ) on the northern edge of the constellation, near the drawbar of the Big Dipper .
