Ashmont is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of Dorchester in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It is the southern terminus of the branch of the same name of the Red Line subway line and at the same time the northern terminus of the Ashmont – Mattapan High Speed ​​Line .

history

The current station was opened for the Red Line on September 1, 1928 , followed by the connection to the Ashmont – Mattapan High Speed ​​Line on August 26, 1929 . As early as 1872, however, there was a station of the same name on the Old Colony Railroad .

In the years 2005 to 2011, the building for more than 35 million was US dollar completely rebuilt.
