Ashmont is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of Dorchester in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It is the southern terminus of the branch of the same name of the Red Line subway line and at the same time the northern terminus of the Ashmont – Mattapan High Speed Line .
history
The current station was opened for the Red Line on September 1, 1928 , followed by the connection to the Ashmont – Mattapan High Speed Line on August 26, 1929 . As early as 1872, however, there was a station of the same name on the Old Colony Railroad .
In the years 2005 to 2011, the building for more than 35 million was US dollar completely rebuilt.

The underground station has a total of three tracks, each of which is accessible via its own side platform .

The subway station is located at 1900 Dorchester Avenue at 200 Ashmont Street and has been fully accessible since its renovation in 2011 .

At the station there is a connection to seven bus lines of the MBTA as well as another of the Brockton Area Transit Authority (BAT).
