Asia, Africa, Latin America was a journal of the Central Council for Asian, African and Latin American Studies in the GDR , which was continued after the end of the GDR until it was discontinued in 2002. It was published by Akademie Verlag Berlin and replaced the notifications of the Institute for Orient Research , which were published by the same publisher from 1953 to 1972. The last editor was the Taylor and Francis Group .

Numerous authors from the GDR as well as international authors wrote for the paper. The last editor-in-chief was long-time author and co-editor Martin Robbe .
