Asmeron "Sammy" Habte (born October 14, 1983 in Asmara ) is a German football player of Eritrean origin.

Life

Private

Asmeron Habte was born in Eritrea and left the country with his parents at the age of three. According to his own statements, his father was persecuted politically. The family came to Germany via the Sahara desert and Libya .

Habte is a trained painter and varnisher.

Club career

The 1.89 m tall defender played a game for Eintracht Trier in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2002/03 season . Since 2004 he has played for the Luxembourg soccer club Victoria Rosport . In the 2007/08 season Habte stood with Victoria Rosport in the final of the Coupe de Luxembourg , which he lost 4-1 to CS Grevenmacher .

Habte has been active at the DJK St. Mathias since 2011 and participated in the 2014 district league promotion. In Trier-Feyen , Habte was also temporarily groundskeeper for the district sports facility.

National team

In July 2003, Habte received an invitation from the national team and, over the next two years, took part in their courses and played test matches against league teams. However, since he was rarely granted leave from Trier, he ended his national team career after a good two years without an official assignment.
