The aspirin rose is a white floribunda rose that was introduced to the market in 1997 by the rose breeding company Rosen Tantau . On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the aspirin invention , it was named after the Bayer drug.

After cool nights, the aspirin rose changes to rosé in the middle

The rose blooms in light white, after a cold snap the center of the flower changes to pink. The flowers are 5 cm high and 7.5 wide. The yellow stamens are visible in the flower bowl, which bees and bumblebees can hardly reach before the flower opens. The rose blooms from June to September and the faded flowers clean themselves well. Their scent is only faintly perceptible.

The perennial plant is hardy to below –20 ° C and rainproof. The plant height is 50 cm - 80 cm and the recommended planting distance is 30 cm; it grows bushy and expansive. The leaves are light green, glossy and lanceolate to elliptical. In terms of location, the aspirin rose requires sunny to partially shaded places.

In 1995, the rose type passed the General German Rose Novelty Test (see ADR Rose ), in which, in addition to the visual impression of the flower, the profuse bloom, the scent, the growth habit and the winter hardiness, above all the resistance to leaf diseases is assessed. In November 1996, Bayer also registered the brand name Aspirin for Nice Class 31 (living plants and natural flowers, especially roses and rose plants; plant propagation material).
