Asrifi Bonsu Attafua

Asrifi Bonsu Attafua (* 1923 ) was a Ghanaian diplomat .

Career

Asrifi Bonsu Attafua was a descendant of Attafua, King of Kotoku Akyem Kotoku - Kotokuhene Nana Attafua (1867-1927). He studied teaching at the Achimota Teachers Training College (Achimota School). In 1942 he was enrolled at University College London , completed his main studies at Oxford University , became a Bachelor of Contemporary History Modern Times at University College London and a member of the Inner Temple in London .

Attafua practiced the profession of teacher and was involved in the production of literature for literacy in Ghana in the early 1950s, on January 13, 1952 he was deputy director of the Vernacular Literature Bureau (dialect association). He worked as a registrar (secretary) of the College of Technology in Kumasi.

From 1964 to 1969 he was Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Nigeria and Ouagadougou . In 1969 he was Resident Representative in Kampala Uganda. In Kampala, Milton Obote ruled , who with Julius Nyerere criticized arms deliveries by the British government to the apartheid regime in South Africa within the Commonwealth of Nations , which contributed to the development of the South African atomic bomb.

On July 23, 1970 Asrifi Bonsu Attafua was brought by David Cairns, 5th Earl Cairns in the State Coach ( Staatskalesche ) to Buckingham Palace to receive the accreditation as High Commissioner (Commonwealth) in London by Elizabeth II . In late February 1971 Asrifi Bonsu Attafua was called to Accra for consultations after the British government decided to lift the arms embargo against South Africa.

On January 13, 1972, Kofi Abrefa Busia was in London for a medical examination and was staying at Asrifi Bonsu Attafua's home when Ignatius Kutu Acheampong drove him from power in Ghana. Asrifi Bonsu Attafua was ordered to Accra by the Ignatius Kutu Acheampong regime, where he arrived on January 30, 1972.
