Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs is an office in the United States Department of State . He heads the Bureau of International Organization Affairs and is therefore responsible for politics in international organizations such as the United Nations . Pamela D. Pryor has been managing director since March 2020 .

The office was created by the United States Department of State in February 1949.
