Assunta Meloni (born April 21, 1951 in San Marino ) is a politician from San Marino. From October 1st, 2008 to April 1st, 2009 she was Capitano Reggente (Head of State) of San Marino together with Ernesto Benedettini .

Life

Meloni holds a degree in languages ​​and foreign language literature from La Sapienza University in Rome. She then completed a two-year English course at the University of Urbino. A middle school teacher by profession, she taught at the history and education faculties of the University of San Marino . From 1996 to 2005 she was chairman of the Oncology Association of San Marino. She is married and has two kids.

Member of the Alleanza Popolare since 2005 , she was first elected to the Consiglio Grande e Generale , the Parliament of San Marino, in 2006. In 2008 she was re-elected on the AP list. She was a member of the Finance and Health Committee. She has been a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since April 2011 and was a deputy member from October 2006. Between 2005 and 2008 she headed Controluce , the party newspaper of Alleanza Popolare. Meloni was elected for the period from October 1, 2008 to April 1, 2009 together with Ernesto Benedettini to the Capitani Reggenti , the heads of state of San Marino.
