Astrid Hamker

Astrid Hamker (born August 24, 1966 in Osnabrück ) is a German entrepreneur and has been President of the German Economic Council of the CDU since 2019 .

Life and professional history

Astrid Hamker is the daughter of Hartwig and Maria Theresia Piepenbrock , grew up in Osnabrück and attended the Graf-Stauffenberg-Gymnasium there , which she left with the Abitur in 1986. In the same year she became a partner in the Piepenbrock group of companies , but initially studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen , which she graduated in 1992 with a degree in business administration (lic. Oec.). In 1993 she began her career as an assistant to the management team at the Felix Schoeller Group , before joining her father's group of companies in Piepenbrock in 1995 as head of the holding company, corporate development and marketing department. In 2000 she finally became managing partner together with her brothers Olaf and Arnulf (from 2002) and took over responsibility for the human resources department. In 2009 she was recalled from office by her brothers and her mother at the shareholders' meeting after there had been a dispute over the establishment of a control advisory board, which her father wanted to see implemented by 2010. At that time Hartwig Piepenbrock was already terminally ill with Alzheimer's. In 2012 she founded her own management consulting agency based in Georgsmarienhütte , which looks after family businesses in conflict situations and still operates them today. In 2013, after the death of her father, she also joined the advisory board of the Piepenbrock Group.

It is also u. a. Chairwoman of the advisory board of Seier Unternehmensgruppe GmbH, member of the supervisory boards of Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA in Lübeck , Schmitz Cargobull AG in Altenberge and Nord / LB in Hanover as well as on the advisory board of the Felix Schoeller Group. She is also deputy chairwoman of the Osnabrück University Society .

Astrid Hamker has been separated from her husband since 2018 and has two children.

Volunteering

In 1997, Hamker joined the CDU Economic Council and took on the role of speaker for the Osnabrück section, which she held until 2009. In 2000 she also became a member of the Lower Saxony state board and in 2004 she became the state chairman there, an office that she held until 2016. Since 2005 also a member of the Presidium of the German Economic Council, she was elected Federal Treasurer in 2013. In June 2019 she was finally elected by the general assembly in Berlin to succeed Werner Michael Bahlsen as the 7th President of the German Economic Council since it was founded in 1963. As such, she is also an advisory member of the CDU federal executive committee .
