Atbara Bridge

The Atbara Bridge ( English Atbara Rail and Road Bridge ) is a reinforced concrete - girder bridge for the railroad and car traffic in Sudan over the river Atbara .

The bridge is located south of the city of Atbara . It was built in 2004 by EVREN-Romania on behalf of the Sudan's National Road Authority with funds from the Islamic Development Bank .

It has a total length of 440 meters and is intended to relieve the old Atbara railway bridge from 1911, which is only 50 meters away.
