history

Atelco branch in Bremen

The company was originally founded in Essen in 1988 under the name Atelco Communications-Vertriebs GmbH . In 1992 the headquarters were relocated to Möhnesee. This was followed by a restructuring from a retail store to a computer dealer with an extensive branch network and mail order business and the establishment of Atelco Computer AG .

The operating result showed a loss of 2 million euros in 2012/2013, and 2.4 million euros in 2013/2014. In May 2015, a restructuring plan to save the company was passed, but it no longer worked.

When it filed for bankruptcy in July 2015, Atelco had 22 branches and 484 employees.

On 23 July 2015, insolvency proceedings were opened before the District Court Arnsberg that with the partial acquisition - the fall of 2015 and March 1, 2016 - by the & K & M Computer GmbH & Co. KG , a company of Bora computer group , came to an end .

A total of eleven branches with 100 employees were renamed K&M Computer and should be able to continue operations in the future. Atelco Computer AG and its headquarters in Möhnesee were finally dissolved.

Atelco had several workbenches ready in each of its branches, on which complete PCs or individual hardware parts were assembled or installed in the presence of the respective customers. This type of live assembly was a specialty of Atelco among the computer suppliers of the time.
