The Athene Glacier is a 16 km long glacier on the Wilkins Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows in an easterly direction to the Casey Glacier , into which it merges shortly before the confluence with the Casey Inlet .
In August and December 1947, aerial photographs were taken by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) and the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition . The FIDS then carried out a survey in 1960. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it after the goddess Athena from Greek mythology.
