Atlantic was a British AOR band.
history
In the summer of 1991, Simon Harrison (Stranger, Wish) began a music project to produce a theme song for a TV series. While looking for a suitable voice, he came across the singer of the band ELO Part II (Quill, Trickster), Phil Bates . The band also included: Paul Hoare (bass), Glenn Wiliams, Chris Taylor (keyboard), Andy Duncan (Linx, Strange Behavior), Phil Riden (drums) and Andy van Evans (guitar). Good voices were also raised for background vocals: Tony Mills (SIAM, Shy), David Saylor, Pete Green and Jo Bates. With this large ensemble they recorded the only CD Power , which was then released in 1994 under the label Music for Nations (for Great Britain, in Germany Bellaphon ).
style
The pieces have a sound similar to Boston , Foreigner and Journey . Bates' voice sounds similar to Lou Gramm's in the pieces .
Special
In AOR fan circles, the pieces on the disc are the epitome of good AORs. Grippy, catchy pieces with elaborate guitar playing and the special voice of Phil Bates. The prices for the rare CDs are between € 30 and € 100. In 2008 the CD was reissued under the label of Escape Music. There's a bonus track on it called Heart on Fire . The total playing time is approximately 44 minutes.
