description
The lake is 390 meters long and up to 200 meters wide; the water area is six hectares. It is still used as a bathing lake today and is one of several artificial lakes that were created along the motorway, which were popular excursion destinations until the 1970s and 80s due to their convenient location directly on the expressway. While other bathing facilities at the now very busy and u. a. No longer existed in a location polluted by noise and fine dust, the Attersee remained as a natural oasis and bathing lake close to the city of Osnabrück. The lake and baths were privatized in the 1970s and the camping facilities expanded.
location
The Attersee lies on the northwestern city limits of Osnabrück and southwest of the Osnabrück harbor . It is surrounded by the Tecklenburger Land , the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge nature park and the Wiehengebirge . The northern bank forms the border to the Lotte municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia . The position is 52.302233 ° N, 7.940319 ° E, 302233 ° N, 7.940319 ° E.
use
Since the 1980s, the private owner has been developing the 20 hectare area around the lake into a camping and leisure area. The site has almost 300 camping spaces, 260 of which are for annual campers and the rest for guests. Free parking spaces, hiking trails, fishing, a natural swimming pool with lifeguards, rowing and pedal boat rental, mini golf course, model boat jetty, table tennis, children's playground as well as a restaurant with bar, snack bar, kiosk and bowling alleys are offered. Ice skating is possible in winter, depending on the temperature.
Every two years at Pentecost, the Ship Model Club Osnabrück organizes an international show on the lake.
The lake hit the headlines in 2011 after the leisure area was taken over by a new operator who - without having fenced the area in advance or provided it with information boards - demanded an entrance fee from everyone who entered the area on the grounds that they could do otherwise and not ensuring order at the lake.
