Attila Kotanyi
Attila Kotányi [ ˈɒtilːɒ ˈkotaːɲi ] (born September 18, 1924 in Hungary , † October 18, 2003 ) was a Hungarian writer and architect .
Life
He lived in Budapest and had contact with the theorists Lajos Szabó and Béla Hamvas . In 1956, after participating in the popular uprising in Hungary , he fled with his family from Hungary via Yugoslavia to Brussels . In 1960 he found out about the Situationist International artist group and soon after became a member.
He defended the thesis of the impossibility of an uncorrupted art and dealt with traditions of Christian mysticism .
In the seventies and eighties of the 20th century he taught art at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf . In the nineties he lived in Budapest again . His daughter Sophie Kotányi is a director and described the circumstances of the flight from Hungary and life in Belgium in 1997 in her film Amor Fati .
