description
The Attic helmet is made of bronze . He has an ellipsoidal helmet bowl. The helmet narrows sharply in the lower head area. The neck protection of this type of helmet has a special construction; the neck protection drops almost vertically and is then bent outwards. At the side of the head it is also pulled down low and provided with cutouts for the wearer's ears. On the face area, cheek flaps are attached with the help of hinges . The cheek flaps become wider towards the bottom and are rounded towards the back. At the front they are provided with a pointed protrusion in the middle. Depending on the version, there are holders for plumes or other figurative decorations on the top of the helmet. There are different versions. It was widespread in ancient times. It got its name from its use in Greece. The Attic helmet has a total height of about 31 cm.
