Audimax (magazine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Audimax - The university magazine is an advertising-financed German student magazine that is published nationwide by the publisher Audimax Medien GmbH, based in Nuremberg . In its orientation, Audimax resembles the Unicum group of companies , which also publishes advertising-financed magazines for students throughout Germany.

Companies

The publishing house Audimax Medien (own spelling audimax MEDIEN) was founded in 1988 by Oliver Bialas in Nuremberg . The company has 20 permanent employees and around 25 freelance authors . Around 100 assistants are responsible for distributing the magazine at the university locations .

Audimax managing director Oliver Bialas is the authorized representative of the non-profit association that operates the MeinProf rating platform . The advertising on this website is marketed by Audimax Medien. The Audimax press officer is also responsible for MeinProf's public relations. The word mark "MeinProf" is registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office on Oliver Bialas' Campus Consulting GmbH.

The publishing house is a member of the Association of German Magazine Publishers and a member of the board of trustees of the “ MINT Future Creation ” initiative . Audimax awards an award for outstanding scientific achievements in the MINT subjects .

Magazines

The Audimax magazine appears nine times a year during the semester with a print run of 418,000 copies. Part of the total circulation appears with subject-specific titles so that advertisers in the magazine can target students. Another magazine is aimed at high school students . Some of the journals are also published in Austria and Switzerland .

surreptitious advertising

Audimax, like Unicum, has been publicly reprimanded several times by the German Press Council for violating the press code through surreptitious advertising . In 2005 Audimax was publicly reprimanded for mentioning a drug in an article about heartburn, as well as for surreptitious advertising for an online service that offers mobile phone gimmicks. In 2008, the editorial team presented a company from the point of view of the company's HR manager in a company portrait. In the opinion of the press council, the magazine violated the requirement to separate editorial content and the business interests of third parties in all cases.

In its current advertising sales documents, the publisher offers editorial advertising at a fixed price. It is optionally referred to as " Advertorial ", "Special publication / customer presence", "Text presence" or "Special".
