"Creating MINT Future" is an association of German employers based in Berlin. It was founded in 2008 and intends to counter the existing shortage of skilled workers in the German economy in the field of scientific and technical professions. The aim of the business initiative is also to expand and strengthen education in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology ( MINT subjects ).

The chairman is the former HR director of Deutsche Telekom AG, Thomas Sattelberger , the patron is Chancellor Angela Merkel .

The "Political Vision 2015" is a catalog of demands for business, educational institutions and politics. "Creating MINT Future" communicates the status of the qualitative and quantitative MINT goals by 2015 and addresses the necessary educational policy steps.

The "MINT-Meter" continuously checks the progress of the MINT goals. The focus is on the question: Are business, education providers and politics turning the right screws to get young people excited about STEM education?

There are around 18,000 “MINT ambassadors” (as of 2016), including the connected MINT networks, such as the German Mathematicians Association , the Association of Electrical, Electronics and Information Technology and BITKOM . Prominent MINT ambassadors are featured in the portrait, such as

The “ambassadors” are committed to the MINT idea in the education sector and also deal with promoting talent in the MINT area, providing internships or mentoring. MINT days and conferences are also held.

The MINT portal on the Internet presents around 15,000 individual MINT initiatives to give young people an orientation in choosing a career and course of study and to interest them in mathematical and scientific disciplines. "Creating MINT Future" provides this target group-specific as a database free of charge.

German schools and universities that have shown a high level of commitment in the MINT subjects are recognized by MINT prizes. Since 2010, the MINT Ambassador Prize has been awarded annually to “ambassadors” with outstanding commitment.
