The Auditorio Cas di Cultura (former name: Cultureel Centrum Aruba) is also the national theater , concert hall and exhibition center for art on the island of Aruba .

The complex is located in the capital, Oranjestad, at the Plaza en Aruba car park in the port area, by the Betico Croes monument .

history

In 1949 the Stichting Schouwburg Aruba (SSA) Foundation was established, which consists of a group of active cultural associations from the Arubian community. These include, for example, the Aruba Film League, the Arubaanse Muziekschool, the Aruba Symphony Orchestra, the Aruba People's University, the Amateurtoneelgroep (theater group) and the Vereniging Pro Musica.

Planning began in 1955. The design of the building was in the hands of the architectural group FF Zingel, who also built the Centro Pro Arte and the Brievengat church on Curaçao . The foundation stone was laid in 1957. The complex was financed by the government of Aruba, the Lago Oil & Transport Company, the Royal Netherlands Steamship Company and the Sticusa (foundation for cultural cooperation with Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles).

On November 15, 1958, the building was opened under the name "Cultureel Centrum Aruba" (Dutch) and later renamed Cas di Cultura (Aruba-Papiamento | papiamento) after the status Aparte.

The cultural institution is operated by the Cas di Cultura Patrons Fund , which is financed by the government, Aruban companies and individuals. Since 2006, the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA) has been involved in the operation of the Auditorio Cas di Cultura as patron.

The maximum capacity is 572 seats; if the orchestra pit is used, the first row of 10 seats is omitted.
