Audouin Dollfus
Audouin Charles Dollfus ( November 12, 1924 - October 1, 2010 ) was a French astronomer who discovered the Saturn moon Janus .
In 1966, Dollfus discovered Janus , a small inner moon of Saturn . He achieved this by observing the rings of Saturn when they could be seen from the edge of the earth and thus were almost invisible. During this time he also observed Epimetheus , a smaller moon that has the same orbit as Janus. But Dollfus did not realize that these are two different objects. This is why Richard L. Walker is considered the discoverer of Epimetheus.
