Pyotr Illarionowitsch Schelochonow

Petr Shelokhonov ( Russian Пётр Илларионович Шелохонов , Belarusian Петро Ларионавіч Шэлахонов Petro Larionavič Šelahonov , Peter Ilarionovich Shelokhonov * 15. August 1929 in the Belarusian SSR ; † 15. September 1999 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian director and theater and film actor .

Life

Childhood and youth 1929 to 1945

Shelokhonov's ancestors came from the Ukraine , the Baltic States and Poland . Pyotr Schelochonov's grandfather, Tito Schelochonowitsch, was a farmer ; his father, Larion Titowitsch, was a veterinarian and worked in horse breeding. The son was supposed to follow the father's profession, but the Second World War thwarted these plans.

Belarus was occupied by the German armed forces. He only survived the bombing raids because he had left the house beforehand. After the bombing the houses, the school and the farm were in ruins, his parents were dead. Pyotr was seized by the German police, he fled and was wounded by gunfire, scars remained on his face. He wandered around and hid. In the autumn of 1941, an injured cow that he was milking saved him from starvation. While procuring food he was caught by partisans with whom he lived until 1943.

From 1942 on, Pyotr Schelochonov performed theater scenes, caricatures of Hitler and parodies of the occupiers among the partisans . In 1944, the 15-year-old owned a self-made puppet theater with puppets and a stage that he had made and with which he moved around Belarus and the Ukraine , earning food and money. His first puppet theater piece was entitled "Little Red Riding Hood, Peter and Wolf in War" . In 1945, Schelokhonov was accepted into the music school at the Kiev Conservatory class piano .

Leningrad 1946 to 1957

In 1946 he came to Leningrad to find work on the stage. He saw that the city that survived the attack by Hitler's armies was horribly destroyed but not suppressed by the nightmares of the Leningrad blockade , where exhausted people stood in bread lines and Stalin's supporters resumed the purges. In 1946, the persecution of creative intellectuals began, closing publishers, magazines, and theaters. Pyotr was accepted into the commercial vocational school and very soon punished by the authorities for the improper humor and political jokes by a punishment company for several months for work on the construction of the Kirov Stadium. From 1949 to 1954, Shelochonov served in the Baltic Fleet . He was accepted as an actor of the Baltic Fleet Theater and took part in performances of the theater in Baltiysk , Liepāja , Kronstadt and Leningrad. In 1952 he was awarded the certificate of honor of the Supreme Soviet of the Latvian SSR for this theatrical activity , but he repeatedly offended with his political jokes and was punished.

In Siberia 1957 to 1962

From 1957 to 1962, Shelochonov lived in Siberia . In 1960 he graduated from the Irkutsk Theater School with the role of Hamlet . In the troupe of the Irkutsk Drama Theater, Pyotr Shelokhonov soon became one of the leading actors, playing a number of contemporary characters.

Chekhov Theater 1962 to 1967

Ivanov's role in the play of the same name by Anton Chekhov won a great success, which was reported in the magazine «Theater» (issue No. 8, 1965). In 1967 Pyotr Shelokhonov played the role of Lenin in his own performance of "Lenin's Reading", which was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution . This performance by Shelokhonov was heavily criticized by the city committee for deviating from the officially approved figure of Lenin.

Moscow

In 1967 Pyotr Schelochonow was appointed by the Ekran film studio to play the leading role in the television film “Shagi w Solnze / Steps in the Sun”, which was shown on the Central Television of the USSR. Since that time, the actor has been used extensively in films and television films. An important role was played by the rocket designer Karelin in the two-part film Taming the Fire . A real figure, the assistant of Korolev, one of the rocket designers who carried out secret space experiments at the time, served as a prototype for the figure of Karelin. Before filming began, the director Gerasimov recommended Pyotr Shelokhonov for the main role, but, according to the decision of the Central Committee curators, this role was given to Central Committee member Kirill Lavrov , and the name of Sergei Korolyov was changed to Bashkirzev for confidentiality reasons. Kirill Lavrov and Pyotr Sholokhonov played several scenes together in this film and became lifelong friends.
