The Auer Verlag is a German publisher for teaching materials. The company founded by Ludwig Auer in Donauwörth in 1875 consisted of the publishing house and a typesetting, printing, bookbinding and bookstore.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the economic areas were divided into individual companies under company law. In 1996 the then newly founded Auer Verlag GmbH entered into an alliance with the Klett Group . In 1999 Auer acquired Persen Verlag . After the withdrawal of the shareholders Ludwig Auer and the Pedagogical Foundation Cassianeum, Klett acquired all of the shares in 2006 and the publishing house has been part of the Stuttgart Klett Group ever since.

The publisher offers more than 1500 titles. The publisher's authors include Heike Grüner , Regina Schulze-Oechtering, Heike Jung , Bernd Wehren , Johanna Barbara Sattler , Manon Sander , Jost Schneider , Karin Kress, Jochen Neumerkel , Manfred Kiesel , Doreen Blumhagen and Dennis Sawatzki.

Until a few years ago, the publishing house continued to have its headquarters in Donauwörth. In 2015, however, the company's headquarters were relocated to Augsburg.

Today, Auer Verlag, together with AOL Verlag and Persen Verlag, forms AAP Lehrerwelt GmbH, formerly AAP Lehrerfachverlage GmbH.
