Church of the Resurrection (Hastedt)
The Evangelical Church of the Resurrection in Hastedt in Bremen - Hemelingen district Hastedt , Drakenburger Straße 42, is one of the most important buildings in Bremen .
history
The Hastedt Resurrection Church was built from 1958/1959 according to plans by the architect Carsten Schröck . It consists of the church, the community center, which is arranged around an inner courtyard, and the free-standing, low bell tower made of concrete and wood from 1961. The curved wall around the chancel made of exposed concrete with its inclines and the curved roof made of glued wood beams are like a saddle shaped, determine the special design of the church. Two large window fronts on the two side walls are made of colored glass; another is arranged in the slope of the roof.
Inside there is a gallery . The stained glass mosaic of the risen Christ in the chancel comes from the Quelkhorn artist Erhart Mitzlaff (Bremen / Fischerhude ). The baptismal font, candlesticks and pulpit by the blacksmith Hermann Carl Rippe are located in the simple church room.
Eberhard Syring writes on the website of the Bremer Zentrum für Baukultur association : "The compositional principle of this striking building, which has been popularly known as 'God's Chair', is based on the contrast and play between two curved shapes."
Resurrection Church
The resurrection church has existed since 1959; formerly with 9500 and today (2014) with 2500 parishioners. The building is often called the “armchair of the dear God” in the parish. During the Second World War, there was a large laundry on the premises of the Resurrection Community, in which numerous Polish forced laborers were killed in an air raid in 1944. The community has been cultivating the memory of this story since 1987.
Two kindergartens, a youth group, several music groups, women's and senior groups as well as a support association are part of the community life.
Monument protection
The church building and community center were listed as a historical monument in 2017.
