August Bärlocher
August Bärlocher ( September 13, 1887 in Thal SG - November 10, 1968 in Zurich ) was a Swiss publicist and editor.
Life
Bärlocher, son of Jakob Silver, from a farming family, studied German in Rome and Freiburg and received his doctorate . From 1917 was the editor of the Catholic-conservative " Aargauer Volksblatt ", alone for decades, then formally as editor-in-chief until 1962, de facto until 1968.
As a right-wing conservative in Aargau, Bärlocher maintained an extensive network of political relationships, often appeared as a speaker and was therefore very popular in Catholic circles. From 1925 he was a member and from 1938 to 1968 President of the Executive Committee of the Swiss Catholic Press Association , trying to reorganize the Catholic International Press Agency (KIPA). Honorary member of the Association of Catholic Publicists in Switzerland, holder of a papal order of merit. One of the leading Catholic journalists during the heyday of the Catholic Conservative press.
He married Emma Fritz in 1943.
