from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Catholic International Press Agency ( Kipa ; French Agence de presse internationale catholique , Apic ) was a bilingual Catholic press agency in Switzerland . It was integrated into the Catholic Media Centers in Zurich and Lausanne in 2015 .

The agency was founded in 1917 by the journalist Ferdinand Rüegg . Kipa was organized as a cooperative and was based in Freiburg in Üechtland FR . The German-language editorial team worked in Zurich and the French-language one in Freiburg. Kipa was editorially independent. The Swiss Catholic Press Association (SKPV) continues to maintain the Swiss Catholic Press Secretariat in Friborg, which provides administrative support.

With the partner agencies - the German Catholic News Agency (KNA) and the Austrian Kathpress  - Kipa ran the joint editorial office Centrum Informationis Catholicum (CIC) in Rome . This international collaboration was taken over and continued by the Catholic media center kath.ch in 2015 .
