The Schwarzenau , also called Marienwasser in the lower reaches , is a 11.1 km long, northeastern and orographically left tributary of the Odeborn in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Siegen-Wittgenstein , Germany .
course
The Schwarzenau rises and runs in the Rothaar Mountains and also in the Sauerland-Rothaar Mountains Nature Park . Its source lies in a small pond on the common western flank of northern Ziegenhelle ( 815.9 m above sea level ) and southern Wallershöhe ( 812.1 m ) at about 745 m .
In a valley lined with wooded mountains, the Schwarzenau runs through unpopulated areas of the Rothaar Mountains in a predominantly south-westerly direction. Initially it flows through the 6.83 km² large nature reserve forests around Oster- and Moselkopf (NSG-Nr. 329702) and then along its southern border. Shortly afterwards, the stream Schweizer Grund flowing from the north from the Forsthaus Schweizer Hof flows into it . Some to the southwest she takes the water of from the north north-west from the northeastern Berleburger Bad Good Hof Dambach coming Dambach on.
Further downstream, the Schwarzenau, now also known as Marienwasser , reaches the village of Wemlighausen , which belongs to Bad Berleburg , where it flows into the Odeborn tributary of the Eder, which comes from the northeast, at an altitude of 437 m ; this results in a height difference of around 308 m. The federal highway 480 runs across from the mouth of the Schwarzenau on the Odeborn river kilometer 6.5 .
