August Blume (born March 30, 1893 in Kemberg , Wittenberg district , † October 24, 1970 ) was a German FDGB functionary. He was chairman of the leather industry union in the FDGB.

Life

Flower learned after visiting the elementary school the profession of Tasch agent . Organized as a union since 1910 , he joined the SPD in 1912 . In the First World War he did military service as a soldier. In 1917, Blume joined the USPD , but returned to the SPD in 1922. From 1921 he was a full-time union employee. From 1929 to 1933 he served as the second chairman of the German Saddlery, Upholsterer and Portfolio Association .

After the National Socialists smashed the unions, Blume was unemployed for a long time. From 1935 to 1945 he worked as a saddler .

After the war ended in 1945 he rejoined the SPD and was a co-founder of the Association of Leather Workers of Greater Berlin and its chairman. In 1945 he became a member of the FDGB, in 1946 with the forced unification of the SPD and KPD , he became a member of the SED . From June 1946 to November 1949, Blume was chairman of the central board of the leather union in the FDGB. From 1947 to 1949 he was a member of the central board of the FDGB. From 1950 to 1961 he worked in the industrial and commercial office.
