August I. of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

August I. von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (born April 27, 1691 in Sondershausen ; † October 27, 1750 in Ebeleben ) was an apanaged prince of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen .

Life

Prince August I was the son of Prince Christian Wilhelm von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (1647–1721) and his wife, Princess Wilhelmine Christiane (1658–1712), daughter of Duke Johann Ernst II of Saxe-Weimar .

Due to the inheritance and successions contract concluded in 1713, as the third-born son, he never became an heir and thus never became the ruling prince. Of course, he did not go away completely empty-handed, but received Ebeleben Castle as his residence. There he held court exclusively until his death.

Since his brothers Günther and Heinrich died without heirs, August would have had to take over the reign of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen in 1758. But he had already died in 1750 and so his eldest son Christian Günther continued the government work.

marriage

August I was married to Charlotte Sophie (1696–1762), daughter of Prince Carl Friedrich von Anhalt-Bernburg , from July 19, 1721 . He had the following children with her:

  • Friederike Auguste (1723–1725)
  • Charlotte (1732–1774) ⚭ January 30, 1754 Count Heinrich II. Von Reichenbach-Goschütz (1731–1790)
  • Christian Wilhelm (1734–1737)
  • Christian Günther III. (1736–1794), Prince of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen
  • Johann Günther V. (1737–1738)
  • August II. (1738–1806), "the bourgeois prince", apanaged Prince of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen ⚭ 1762 Christine Elisabeth Albertine of Anhalt-Bernburg (1746–1823)
