August Lammers (politician, 1898)

August Lammers (born July 25, 1898 in Bannetze , † August 18, 1978 in Winsen ) was a German politician ( FDP ) and a National Socialist functionary.

Life

Lammers attended elementary school and then the four-semester Provincial Agricultural School in Ebstorf. Until 1916 he was in practical training for his profession, after which he took part in the First World War, in which he received the War Merit Award II class and the Iron Cross II class. After the end of the war he worked in agriculture again and in 1920 he took over his parents' farm. He then worked as a freelance farmer until 1952. In addition, he was also active in politics. From 1924 to 1940 he was the mayor of his home parish.

Before 1933 Lammers was a member of the Stahlhelm and the DVP . He had been a member of the NSDAP since April 1, 1936 ( membership number 3,742,982). In the NSDAP he acted as the main community leader and political leader . In addition, he worked as a district farmer in Celle from 1938 to 1945 and was CEO of the Winsen dairy during the same period. From 1936 he was chairman of the savings and loan fund Eschede. From 1936 to 1962 he was on the parish council of Eschede.

On April 14, 1945, Lammers was arrested by the Allied occupying forces. Until 1948 he was interned . From 1952 he was mayor in Bannetze and also a member of the district council. From 1954 to 1955 and again from 1957 to 1961 he was honorary district administrator for the district of Celle . In the fourth electoral term he was from May 6, 1959 to May 5, 1963 a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .
