August Wedekind

August Wedekind (born May 4, 1890 in Limmer , Alfeld district (Leine) , † September 11, 1955 in Duingen ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

After attending primary school, August Wedekind completed an apprenticeship as a tailor . He went on a hike , worked as a stamping knife smith and finally switched to the mechanic trade.

He joined the SPD and the trade union in 1910. From 1924 to 1933 he was mayor of his home parish and a member of the district council in Alfeld. During the Nazi era , he was relieved of all his offices in 1933. He had to leave his home temporarily. After the end of the war he became mayor of Duingen in 1945 and later a member of the district council. From September 14, 1953 to September 11, 1955, he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (2nd and 3rd electoral term).
