August Zeuner

August Zeuner (born September 6, 1913 in Mülheim am Rhein , † December 10, 1976 in Koblenz ) was a German politician and sports official.

Since September 1950, Zeuner was, every three years with the other chairmen of the sports federations Palatinate and Rheinhessen, chairman of the state sports union of Rhineland-Palatinate and from 1966 its sole chairman. He was a founding member of the German Sports Association and a member of its executive committee. At the Olympic Games in Munich, he acted as treasurer on the finance committee. Zeuner was director and managing director of Sport-Toto-GmbH for many years .

In addition to his career as a sports official Zeuner was for the CDU from 1949 to 1971, both full-time mayor and office Mayor of Oberwesel and 1971 honorary mayor. In addition, he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from 1975 until his death .

The city of Oberwesel made him an honorary citizen and dedicated the Bürgermeister-Zeuner-Straße to him.
