Augusta Gillabert

Augusta Gillabert-Randin (born November 22, 1869 in Orbe , † April 1, 1940 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss women's rights activist. In 1919 she founded the first women farmers' organization in Switzerland , the Association des paysannes de Moudon (from 1930: Association agricole des femmes vaudoise ).

Augusta Gillabert campaigned for better training and social security for women farmers . In addition, she was involved in the abstinence movement and in the voting rights movement . In 1921 she led the appearance of rural women at the 2nd Swiss Women's Congress and in 1928 at the SAFFA .

Between 1918 and 1940 she wrote a few hundred press articles. A selection of these was published in autumn 2005 in the series "Studies and Sources on Agricultural History" by Peter Moser and Marthe Gosteli; supplemented by a selection of protocols from the first female farmers' association in Switzerland, the Association des Productrices de Moudon (APM) , which was co-founded by Augusta Gillabert-Randin .
