Auguste Arens von Braunrasch (born December 9, 1824 in Mainz , † December 9, 1901 in Wiesbaden ) was a German writer . She wrote historical romance novels and comedies under the pseudonyms Julius Rasch and Max von Pleiner .

Life

Auguste Arens von Braunrasch was born as the daughter of the Austrian lawyer Bernhard Franz von Braunrasch in Mainz, where she also spent her childhood. The family eventually moved to Vienna . Only after the death of her parents did Auguste Arens von Braunrasch return to Mainz, where she lived in the house of her brother-in-law, the music publisher Franz Schott . In the cozy house of her brother-in-law, she met the most important musicians of her time and educated herself in their dealings. This is how she came into contact with Richard Wagner , who was reading from the “ Meistersinger von Nürnberg ” in Franz Schott's house , and she was present at concerts by Franz Liszt and Hans von Bülow .

In 1859 she married the Hessian judge Dr. Philipp Heinrich Arens, who died in 1869. As a widow, she lived alternately in Vienna and Hungary and moved to Wiesbaden in 1874. After several trips to Hungary and other countries, she decided to process her impressions in a literary way. From the 1880s, comedies and travelogues followed, which she published under the pseudonyms Julius Rasch or Max von Pleiner . Auguste Arens von Braunrasch died in Wiesbaden in 1902 and was buried in the main cemetery in Mainz .

The author's written estate in Wiesbaden was destroyed by the effects of the war.
