Augustine Association for the Care of the Catholic Press was an association founded in Düsseldorf in 1878 to promote the Catholic daily press.

As part of the Kulturkampf , representatives of the Catholic press and political Catholicism such as Heinrich Otto , Georg Friedrich Dasbach , Karl Heinrich zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg , Hermann Joseph Schmitz and Eduard Hüsgen founded the association. The aim was to provide moral support and to provide information to the existing, often small-circulation papers with a common treatment of the issues of the day. In the manner of a news agency , reports were made about its own corrospondents from Berlin. New and needy journalists should also be supported. From 1897 to 1934 the Augustinusblatt was published as a club magazine . In 1904 the association had 850 members, organized in ten regional associations.

Eduard Hüsgen took over the chairmanship from the late Heinrich Otto in 1908. He initiated the opening of the Augustine Society for women. In the central dispute , the association under Hüsgen represented the modernist side of the Cologne direction , the newspapers of this direction were referred to as the Augustinus Press . In 1912 he was followed by Lambert Lensing from Dortmund . In 1928 the fiftieth anniversary of the association was celebrated. In 1934, under the conditions of the Hitler regime, activities ceased, and there was no re-establishment.
