Aulus Sempronius Atratinus (Consular Tribune 425 BC)
Aulus Sempronius Atratinus came from the aristocratic Sempronian family and served as consular tribune three times (425, 420 and 416 BC) in the early Roman Republic . His alleged consulate from 428/427 BC Is probably interpolated.
Life
According to the Fasti Capitolini , the father of Aulus Sempronius Atratinus led the praenomen Lucius and his grandfather the praenomen Aulus .
In the years 425, 420 and 416 BC Atratinus was consular tribune. Presumably, in the historical work of the Sicilian historian Diodorus, this is between the years 428 and 427 BC. The consulate of Atratinus , which was inserted in the Roman annalist Titus Livius , but was missing, represents an interpolation. 420 BC. During his second term in office as consular tribune, Atratinus is said to have manipulated the elections of the quaestors in favor of patrician candidates and thereby made enemies of the tribunes of the people . As a result of revenge, they would have reopened a trial against his cousin Gaius Sempronius Atratinus, which had been suspended two years ago .
