Aurelio Bonelli

Aurelio Bonelli (* 1569 in Bologna , † after 1620) was an Italian organist , composer and painter .

Live and act

All that is known about Bonelli's life is that he was a pupil of the painter Agostino Carraccis . Ernst Ludwig Gerber dedicated an entry to him in the first volume of his "Historisch-Biographisches Lexicon ..." in 1790, describing him as an important sound artist and painter.

Bonelli worked in Bologna at the churches of San Michele in Bosco (1602) and San Giovanni in Monte (1620). Around 1600 he is also mentioned as an organist in Milan .

In 1596 a first collection with three-part villanelles appeared in Venice and in 1602 a second collection with four-part ricercari and canzones , as well as two eight-part toccatas and dialogues for two keyboard instruments, one of which is in the Augsburg city library.
