Aurelius Saturninus

Aurelius Saturninus (his prenomen is unknown) was a member of the Roman army living in the 2nd or 3rd century AD .

A dedicatory inscription found at Fort Banna and dated 122/300 shows that Saturninus was temporarily the commander ( cuius curam agit ) of the Cohors I Aelia Dacorum , which was stationed in the province of Britannia at the time.

  1. According to John Spaul and RIB, Saturninus was acting commander of the cohort; H. he was temporarily in command of the cohort instead of the actual commander; like Iulius Marcellinus , he was probably a centurion who had been seconded by a legion .
