The central instruction B1-224 / 0-2 Training and maintenance of individual basic skills and physical performance (training IGF / KLF) was issued on May 21, 2015 and replaces the previous instruction on training, maintenance of individual basic skills and physical performance ( IGF / KLF directive). It is the basic document of the Bundeswehr for the named skills and abilities.

Specifications and training goals
The following services are required of every soldier in the Bundeswehr each year:
Mastery of shooting skills
Mastery of the accurate shot with the respective assigned weapon.
Mastery of self and companion help
Knowledge of disease prevention, hygiene and techniques for coping with stress are imparted and checked in order to be assumed later for every soldier. The level of training is above that of a standard first aid course.
Mastery of elementary NBC protective measures
Handling personal NBC protective equipment is trained and then required.
Maintaining and improving physical performance
Fulfillment of the status, age and gender-independent minimum requirements for physical performance. This means that every soldier passes the basic fitness test , fulfills a 100 m swim in clothes in under 4 minutes with subsequent undressing in the water in accordance with the DLRG / DRK implementation regulations and marches at least 6 kilometers with a weight of 15 kg in under 60 minutes. Navy uniform wearers who are deployed in the Navy can swap the march by swimming for 200 m in clothes.
