Instruction for individual basic skills

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The transfer to education, to obtain the Individual Basic Skills and Physical performance (transfer IGF / KLF) was the Instructions of the Bundeswehr for physical and mental fitness of soldiers. It was suspended on May 21, 2015 and replaced by the new central instruction B1-224 / 0-2 " Training and maintenance of individual basic skills and physical performance (training IGF / KLF) ".

General

All active soldiers in the Bundeswehr must constantly master a minimum of basic military skills. All training in the armed forces presupposes the mastery of the individual basic skills, which are specified in the so-called IGF instruction . The directive was last published in an updated form on February 18, 2013.

The soldiers are physically and psychologically stressed by the foreign missions in armed conflicts. The Bundeswehr has so far relied heavily on promoting physical and sporting performance, but the new situation is increasingly moving towards promoting the mental and psychological health of its soldiers or trying to restore it after operations.

Focus

Shooting skill

The first basic requirement of the IGF directive concerns the handling of weapons and the promotion of accuracy.

Self and comrade help

Knowledge of disease prevention, hygiene and techniques for coping with stress are imparted and checked in order to be assumed later for every soldier. The level of training is above that of a standard first aid course.

NBC protective measures

Handling personal NBC protective equipment is trained and then required. In the wording: "Independent creation of the threat and order-adapted protection states (BAS) 0-4 according to the central service regulation (ZDv) 5/300 in the specified times."

Physical ability

The biggest changes were made in the new edition of the 2010 directive in the area of physical performance (KLF). Here the services to be provided were adapted to the "operational requirements" of today's Bundeswehr. With the " Basic Fitness Test ", the successor to the Physical Fitness Test , a modern test procedure independent of gender, age and status should be made available.

The Bundeswehr understands physical performance to be a high degree of strength, speed, endurance and flexibility. Coordinative skills are also included in the assessment. Soldiers should be so physically efficient that they can cope with their military demands as successfully as possible over a longer period of time.

The requirements

Without exception, every soldier (in active employment) must perform the following once a year:

  • Swim 100 meters in clothes in a maximum of four minutes with subsequent undressing in the water in accordance with the implementation regulations of the DLRG or the water rescue service in the DRK for this exercise or 200 m swim in seven minutes.
  • A 6-kilometer walk with at least 15 kilograms of luggage in no more than 60 minutes or, for marines, a swim in clothes over a distance of 200 meters in no more than 8 minutes.
  • Basic fitness test: 11 × 10 m sprint in a maximum of 60 seconds, a chin-up slope for at least 5 seconds and a 1000-meter run in a maximum of 6 minutes and 30 seconds.

Reservists

Assigned reservists must provide evidence of the IGF every two years and the KLF every year.
