surge tank
An expansion tank ( AGB for short ) is used in many different technical systems to stabilize the flow processes.
General
An expansion tank is a valve that is used in small and large systems. It is required to compensate for the loss of a liquid or gaseous operating medium due to temperature-related expansion , evaporation or evaporation . In the case of temperature expansion , the fluctuating volume is compensated for. In most cases, the system pressure is maintained with the expansion tank and the available operating resources.
Technically, an expansion tank can be designed in different ways and in different sizes depending on the requirements at hand. In closed and heated systems this is an expansion vessel , in open systems z. B. an elevated tank .
application areas
- Air chamber in the service brake system - for example with compressed air , for example in railroad cars or motor vehicles, see also brake (motor vehicle)
- Membrane expansion tanks and buffer in bunk and central heating
- Cooling Systems
- Hydrophores in the aqueduct systems of multi-story houses
- Elevated tanks in water supply networks
