The Dietzenbach observation tower

The Dietzenbach observation tower is a landmark of Dietzenbach .

The Dietzenbach observation tower was designed by the architect Wolfgang Rang and built in 2001. It is a 33 meter high tubular steel construction with a viewing platform 21 meters high, to which a counterclockwise spiral staircase with 119 steps leads. The round platform is attached eccentrically to the tower shaft and has a diameter of 8.5 meters. There are two horizontally arranged metal spoked wheels above the observation deck of the tower. The lower one is mutually eccentric to the platform, the upper one concentrically attached to the tower shaft. The latter is equipped with blades on the outside and can turn in the wind, which has earned the tower the nickname helicopter tower . The entire construction is stabilized by eight thick steel cables, which are tensioned from the lower spoked wheel to the floor, four of which run through the floor of the viewing platform and also stabilize it.

From the viewing platform you have a good view of the surrounding area. In good weather you can see Frankfurt am Main, about 12 kilometers away, and behind it the Taunus .
