Austerity is a funeral doom band founded in 2005 .

history

The musician who is active as “Zavo” and “Brother Humbler” for various Italian music groups, otherwise acting anonymously, founded Austerity in Modena in 2005 as a solo project based on drone and funeral doom. With the studio project Austerity, "Brother Humbler" sporadically produced releases over the active phase of the band, which appeared in particular on the Portuguese independent label Bubonic Productions and the associated sub-label Bubonic Doom . After the demo Perpetua Nox Dormienda Est released in 2005, the debut album Austerity was not released until 2009 , followed by a split single released together with Black Temple Below in 2013 .

style

Austerity's music is assigned to Funeral Doom . The webzine Doom-Metal.com describes the band as a "slow and miserable funeral project in the tradition of skepticism ." The guitar playing is described as bleak and accompanied by sweeping dark ambient passages. A sober genre purism is attested to the music, which is also evident in the song lyrics inspired by prayers for the dead . These are presented in Latin, German and Italian. The label Weird Truth Productions describes the music as Dark Ambient Doom with eerie guitar riffing , dark chanting and bizarre sound elements.
