Austrått is the most populous district of the city of Sandnes in the Fylke Rogaland in Norway .

The district is located southeast of the center of Sandnes. Austrått has an area of ​​3.1 km² and had 10587 inhabitants in 2007 and 7719 inhabitants on January 1, 2012. Austrått consists almost exclusively of residential and recreational areas, as well as a few areas with agriculture.

In Austrått among other things, the regional headquarters of the Norwegian Agency for Food Safety for Rogaland and Agder and the seat of power and communications company Lyse Energi . In recent years, the district had increased its area through incorporations, from the previously independent urban areas of Sandnes Bogafjell and Skaret .

The only church in the district is Høyland kirke, which was built around 1841 and restored in 1969. Near the church is North Jæren's most popular hiking destination , Melshei . The area is used by locals and tourists for hiking and skiing. It has an 8 km long illuminated ski and hiking trail, which in Norway is called Lysløype (light trails). In the extension, the paths lead to the Rogaland Arboretum ( Rogaland arboret ) and a local recreation area. There are a total of five schools in Austrått : the Austrått skole , Bogafjell skole , Buggeland skole , Høyland ungdomsskole and the Iglemyr skole .
