Exterior
The Australian pony is more closely related to the Welsh Mountain pony than other pony breeds. It is compact, strong and well built, has a correct building with a lot of quality and very good movements. It has a pronounced pony character and a strikingly beautiful, noble head with large eyes. Along with the original British pony, it is far larger than other specially bred riding ponies. The height is between 120 and 140 cm.
interior
One praises his excellent temperament and devotion.
Breeding history
The Australian pony is a mix of several horse breeds and types that were imported from early European settlers. The first pony import ( Timor pony ) took place in 1803 , but it was not until 1920 that an independent type could develop, with a large proportion of the " Welsh Mountain Pony " with Shetland blood . But also " Hackneys " as well as Arabs and thoroughbreds provided today's breeding base.
