Location of Walxheim in Baden-Württemberg |
Walxheim is a district of the community of Unterschneidheim in the Ostalbkreis in eastern Baden-Württemberg . In addition to the village of the same name, the hamlet of Hundslohe also belongs to him .
geography
The village of Walxheim is located on a ridge between the hollows of the uppermost Jagst in the west, the official source of which is only about half a kilometer southwest of the outskirts, and the Aalbach in the east, a tributary of the Schneidheimer Sechta . The watershed runs along the western edge of the village, just outside the settlement boundary; Since the Jagst feeds the Neckar and then the Rhine, the Sechta but the Eger, the Wörnitz and then the Danube, it is a section of the European main watershed between the Black Sea and the North Sea. From a natural point of view, the village and its surroundings lie in the lower area of Pfahlheim-Rattstädter Liasplatten of the Eastern Alb foreland . The Upper Lower Jurassic lies underground .
The state road 1070 runs through Dorf from Stödtlen and Tannhausen -Riepach in the north to Unterschneidheim- Zöbingen and Bopfingen in the southeast. From the direction of Ellwangen - Pfahlheim in the north-west, the K 3213 finally runs to you via Ellwangen- Buchhausen in the north of the village. At its southeast end, a low-level road branches off to the east to Unterschneidheim, where the hamlet of Hundslohe is located after a few hundred meters.
history
Walxheim was first mentioned in 1314 as Walchshain . In the 14th century the place belonged largely to the Mönchsroth monastery . With him, the place fell to the County of Öttingen-Öttingen after the Reformation in 1558. With Mönchsroth, Walxheim was sold to Johann Philipp von Schell in 1713 and bought back in 1749 by Prince Johann Aloysius I von Öttingen-Spielberg.

coat of arms
Blazon
"In blue, a silver, rooted herbaceous plant with three golden flowers and four silver leaves."
interpretation
The exuberant flower occurs frequently on the landmarks of the agriculturally oriented village of Walxheim. To commemorate the House of Oettingen, to which the village mainly belonged from 1558, the colors were taken from the coat of arms of this family.
