Zipplingen is a district of Unterschneidheim in Baden-Württemberg Ostalbkreis . The once independent town was incorporated into Unterschneidheim in 1975. The villages of Sechtenhausen and Wössingen belong to the place .

history

The place Zuppelingen was mentioned for the first time in 1153. The place name probably goes back to the personal name Zuppilo . To the east of the church stood Zipplingen Castle , where the Lords of Zipplingen had their ancestral seat. These were ministerials of the empire, later the Counts of Oettingen .

Zipplingen was burned down by the Swedes in 1632. Other local fires:

  • September 19, 1677: 58 roofs destroyed
  • September 5, 1678: 39 roofs destroyed
  • May 9, 1795: 22 buildings destroyed
  • October 27, 1837: 22 buildings destroyed
  • July 16, 1848: 3 main buildings destroyed
