AutomationML

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

AutomationML ( Automation M arkup L anguage ) is a neutral, XML -based data format for the storage and exchange of plant design data, as an open standard is available. The aim of AutomationML is the exchange of engineering data in a heterogeneous tool landscape of modern engineering tools for various disciplines such as mechanical design, electrical design, HMI development, PLC programming or robot control .

The data exchange format AutomationML is standardized in IEC 62714, whereby both the first part “Architecture and general requirements” and the second part “Role class libraries” are already international standards (IS).

approach

AutomationML describes system components as objects with different aspects. An object can contain other objects and can itself be part of a larger component. It can describe a screw, a gripper, a robot or a complete production cell in different levels of detail.

AutomationML is made up of various standards that are linked by strongly typed links:

  • Topology or structure (attributes and relationships of objects in their hierarchical system structure) implemented with CAEX (IEC 62424).
  • Geometry (graphic attributes and 3D information) implemented with COLLADA from the Khronos Group .
  • Kinematics (connections and dependencies of objects to describe motion planning) implemented with COLLADA.
  • Logic (process sequences, internal behavior and I / O connections) implemented with PLCopen XML.

For future extensions, AutomationML is designed in such a way that further formats with similar referencing mechanisms can be integrated.

history

After initial evaluations of exchange formats, Daimler initiated the development and standardization of AutomationML as an intermediate format of the digital factory together with ABB , KUKA , Rockwell Automation , Siemens , netAllied and Zühlke as well as the University of Karlsruhe and the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg in October 2006. In 2009 the previously closed industrial consortium opened with the establishment of an association. The Fraunhofer IOSB became the first new member .
