history

In the spring of 1983 the first edition of Flexible Automation was published by Resch-Verlag , Graefelfing - as an offshoot of the specialist journal Flexible Manufacturing . The first editor-in-chief was Rolf Apitius .

In 1992, the publisher Ingo Resch sold his publishing house with the specialist publications to Coburg Media Mail Verlag , a subsidiary of WEKA Holding . Resch became the Resch Media Mail Verlag . Rolf Apitius was succeeded in the spring of 1994 by Michael Lind , who moved from the modern industry publishing house in Landsberg, as editor-in-chief. Under him, Flexible Automation was set up as an industry magazine for application-related automation solutions in industry. This was accompanied by a gradual expansion of the topics and editorial content. In autumn 2013, Joachim Vogl took over the position of editor-in-chief.

Due to a decision at WEKA to part with all trade journals for the capital goods sector, the Resch Media Mail Verlag was dissolved at the end of 1996 and Flexible Automation and maschine + werkzeug sold to Henrich Publications GmbH . In autumn 2002 the magazine title was changed to automation .

Since the change in layout, the magazine has appeared in A4 plus format since mid-2006, with a new logo.
