Autostrada del Sole

The Autostrada del Sole or Autosole for short ( German : Autobahn of the Sun ) was an Italian road traffic axis until 2016 that stretched from Milan over the entire Apennine peninsula to the tip of your boot near Reggio di Calabria . It comprised the former highways A1 from Milan to Rome, A2 from Rome to Naples and A3 from Naples to Reggio Calabria. In December 2016 there were major renaming. Only the A1 from Milan to Naples was now called the Autostrada del Sole, while the newly named A2 from Salerno to Reggio is now called the Autostrada del Mediterraneo .

Trivia

In 1981 Rainhard Fendrich published the song Strada Del Sole , which quickly became a well-known summer hit in his home country Austria and was voted 14th of the “100 most important Austrian pop songs” in 2020 by the pop culture magazine The Gap as part of the AustroTOP ranking.
